Cradle Club
The Cradle Club is a special group of blood donors who help infants who need blood transfusions. The Cradle Club was established to recognize those donors who “Give Blood for all the Little Reasons”. Cradle Club members receive special t-shirts and recognition throughout the year.
Individuals who donate blood for babies must have type O positive or O negative. These individuals must also be CMV negative. This simply means the donor must test negative for a germ called cytomegalovirus. In the world we live in, we are exposed to a variety of harmless germs and viruses every day. These exposures do not affect the adult population, but they can be very harmful or fatal to delicate infants.
Additionally, a donor can at be exposed at anytime to the CMV, thereby making him or her ineligible to donate for babies in the future. For this reason, we are in constant need of new CMV donors. If you have a special place in your heart for babies, please contact Shepeard Blood Center at 706-737-4551 and become a baby blood donor today!
