Shepeard Community Blood Center is a 501 (c) 3 organization founded in 1978. Today the blood center collects more than 32,000 units of blood each year. Over 650 donors are needed each week to meet this need.
Blood is given by volunteer donors. Hospitals are charged a processing fee to cover the cost of recruitment, collection processing, testing, distribution and equipment.
Shepeard Blood Center provides blood and blood products for 16 hospitals in 11 counties.
